The allure of fractal mathematics arises from its position at the intersection of generative art and computer art.
In a Landscape is a series of medium-sized, limited edition fine art prints featuring 3D-generated fractal landscapes.
Many natural phenomena exhibit some form of statistical self-similarity that can be modeled by fractal surfaces to generate realistic-looking images. These 3D-generated fractal landscapes are digital terrain models created using stochastic algorithms designed to produce visual outputs that mimic the appearance of natural terrain.
The series was produced using multifractal algorithms, which, unlike monofractal algorithms, exhibit varying degrees of complexity and detail across all scales. Fractal geometry allows us to achieve highly detailed and complex landscapes, making them appear more natural than those generated using other traditional methods.
The high-resolution generated images were subsequently processed with photographic editing tools (selective defocusing, toning, graining, etc.) and finally optimized for printing on “Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag 310 gsm” paper: a high-quality paper made from 100% cotton, highly regarded for its ability to reproduce fine details, exceptional tonal range, and refined texture, as well as its excellent Dmax for deep blacks.
Each piece was printed in a limited edition of 3 + 1 AP.
