S.G.V.M.F.S.C.O. (an acronym for Sound Generated Video Modules for Single Channel Output) consists of two sound-generated audiovisual modules designed for free (re)composition in video installations.
The project seeks to present sound-generated visual data as pure dynamic abstraction.
It serves as a profound homage to Hans Richter, a pioneer of abstract cinema, whose exploration of basic forms within the screen’s spatial framework established a unique visual language.
It also situates itself within the broader tradition of Op Art, geometric abstraction, and minimalism, all of which have played a crucial role in shaping the evolution of modern art.
Building on this approach, see also the subsequent videos of the series Display Data Variations (2009).
Note: A series of sixteen enhanced video stills—printed in a limited edition, individually numbered, and hand-signed—has been edited from one of the two videos of the series (MOD513evS) in 2012 (please see the related page).
